Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 has officially dropped a brand-new trailer and key visual, confirming an October 2026 release date. The highly anticipated sequel was originally announced right after the Season 1 finale in December 2022. Streaming platform HIDIVE has previously confirmed that it will exclusively stream the anime as part of its Fall 2026 lineup.
Studio C2C is returning to handle the animation for Season 2. The main staff features Shinji Ishihira as director, Takahiro Nagano handling series composition and scripts, and Atsuki Saito (credited also as Atsuko Saito in staff rolls) as the character designer. The newly released trailer showcases a glimpse of the upcoming Sky Island Arc and features the opening theme song “DREAM OF BUTTERFLY” by FZMZ. The ending theme is titled “Baribari Buddy” by Hanabie.

Action Direction is led by Rino Isago, Satoshi Sakai, and Shunya Nitta. Color Design is managed by Masato Takagi and Takeshi Kurihara, while Art Direction and Design are handled by Masahiro Sato with art boards by Kouki Nagayoshi. Prop design falls to Tomoki Yokoyama and Emi Kono, with Masaaki Onodera serving as Director of Photography. 3DCG is produced by Hinokuni Animation, 2D and Monitor Graphics by Junpei Mukai, and editing by Go Sadamatsu. Sound direction is helmed by Shoji Hata, with a musical score composed by Yasuharu Takanashi (Team-MAX).
The series is based on the original light novel written by Yu Tanaka and illustrated by LLO. The story initially launched on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in October 2015 before GC Novels began publishing physical light novel volumes in 2016. A manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama is currently ongoing, alongside a spin-off manga titled Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish by Hinako Inoue, which started in June 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment licenses the original light novel, main manga, and spin-off in English, describing the premise: When a 30-year-old salaryman and games enthusiast is suddenly killed in a car accident, he finds himself reborn into a fantasy world… but in the form of a sword! Now he’s in search of a beautiful woman to wield him, and a catgirl named Fran might be the exact adventuring partner he needs.
