The historical fantasy romance adaptation Red River has released an arresting new main visual and official trailer for the second cour of its ongoing broadcast. Following its initial debut on July 7, 2026, the series is set to transition directly into its next narrative chapter with the broadcast of episode 13 on September 29, 2026.
The newly unveiled promotional footage highlights the second cour’s driving opening theme, titled "Akatsuki no Hoshi," performed by acclaimed voice actress and singer Nana Mizuki, who also voices the character Ursula in the series.
Production Pedigree and Cast Additions
Animation production for Red River is spearheaded by Tatsunoko Production. The series is directed by Kosuke Kobayashi, recognized for his work on Waccha PriMagi!, alongside series composition by Yoriko Tomita and character designs handled by Kenji Fujisaki. To maintain authenticity in depicting the ancient Hittite Empire setting, Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida from the Middle Eastern Culture Centre in Japan are credited with historical research.
The voice cast features Mirai Tachibana as Yuri and Wataru Kato as Prince Kail, supported by performances from Aya Uchida, Shoya Chiba, Tomoaki Maeno, Koji Yusa, and recently added cast members such as Soma Saito and Shun Horie. International streaming rights are handled by Crunchyroll.
Based on the classic shojo manga by Chie Sonohara, which serialized in Shogakukan’s Shojo Comic magazine from 1995 to 2002 across 28 tankobon volumes, the story follows ordinary Japanese student Yuri as she is mysteriously dragged through a pool of water into ancient Anatolia.
