The official website for the television anime adaptation of Chie Shinohara's classic shōjo romance and historical fantasy manga Red River (Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori) has released a substantial promotional trailer and primary visual for the series' upcoming second part. The newly dropped preview showcases the narrative escalation awaiting Yuri Suzuki following her time-slip into Bronze Age Anatolia, alongside a first listen to the opening theme song titled "Akatsuki no Hoshi" (Morning Star) performed by renowned artist and voice actress Nana Mizuki.
Alongside her musical contribution, Mizuki steps into the recording booth to voice Ursula, a mysterious figure impersonating the goddess Ishtar. The production team also announced that Ryu Matsuyama feat. Yūko Andō will handle the ending theme song titled "flow". These musical additions join a stacked voice cast starring Mirai Tachibana as the transported protagonist Yuri and Wataru Katō as Prince Kail Muršili of the Hittite Empire.
Production Pedigree & Historical Authenticity
Animation production is anchored at Tatsunoko Production, with Kōsuke Kobayashi directing the series. The script composition is overseen by Yoriko Tomita, while character designs are crafted by Kenji Fujisaki. To maintain the rigorous geopolitical and historical framing of the ancient Hittite Empire, the production utilizes specialized consultation from Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida of the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology.
Shinohara originally serialized the monumental shōjo epic in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine between 1995 and 2002. North American publisher Viz Media originally distributed the 28-volume run in English before launching ongoing omnibus editions, cementing the title's enduring legacy among historical romance enthusiasts.
