The official Pokemon information desk on X (formerly Twitter) has treated fans to a rare behind-the-scenes look at the development materials for Poko a Pokemon, the slow-life sandbox title exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Released on March 5, Poko a Pokemon introduces a cozy town-building loop where players control a Ditto transformed into a human. The core gameplay revolves around reviving a withered, barren town while coexisting with uniquely adapted regional variants of classic creatures.
The newly unveiled design documents focus heavily on the 'Pale Pikachu' (Usuchu), a variant described by developers with the poignant note, "The more you look at it... the more fragile it feels…" The internal schematics highlight a washed-out fur palette and distinctively drooping ears. Animators and character designers adjusted the muscle tension to achieve the drooping silhouette, implementing asymmetrical ear angles, slightly elongated back-swept tips, and a softer tail geometry.
Further breakdowns illustrate the character's softer facial architecture, featuring vertically elongated, drooping eyes and a relaxed mouth shape. The documentation also maps out comprehensive expression sheets covering default states, minor and major joy, surprise, anger, and sorrow, alongside lighting references for when the electric cheeks emit a glow.
Poko a Pokemon is currently available for the Nintendo Switch 2, priced at 8,980 yen (tax included) for both physical and digital editions.
