The upcoming television anime adaptation of Jura's My Girlfriend's Friend (Kanojo no Tomodachi) manga is officially ready for its broadcast debut. Streaming platform OceanVeil has confirmed it will simultaneously stream the series starting October 4, giving international audiences immediate access to the romantic tension.
Originating from Jura's web manga serialized in Kodansha's YanMaga Web since May 2021, the story follows Takeru Hidaka. His peaceful relationship with his cheerful first girlfriend, Kaori, gets derailed when he encounters her glamorous, enigmatic best friend, Tomoko, whose magnetic presence continuously tests his loyalty and resolve.
Production & Staff
Animation production is anchored at Studio Quad, with Takashi Andō directing the series. WWWave Corporation’s Deregula anime label handles production duties, backed by Gokō Shiraki overseeing the series scripts. The character design duties are managed by Ryūji Iwata, who also acts as chief animation director alongside Akira Koshiishi and Konatsu Kumagai.
The main voice cast features Ryūga Nagaike as Takeru, Sayaka Hashi as Kaori, Miki Hase as Tomoko, Riho Sugiyama as Miyuki, and Ryōka Yuzuki voicing Kaori's mother. On the musical front, Airots performs the opening theme song "Gingira," while Ceui handles the ending theme song "False Love."
Broadcast Schedule
The series premieres on Tokyo MX on October 4, followed by a broadcast on BS11. Additionally, the explicit "Complete Deregula" version of the anime will stream via AnimeFesta starting October 5, catering to viewers seeking the unedited presentation.
