The alternative-history sci-fi journey through a frozen, unending Cold War is drawing to a close. Amazon Japan listings indicate that the fifth compiled book volume of Moscow 2160, created by writer Kumo Kagyu and artist Kōtarō Sekine, will serve as the final installment for the manga. The concluding volume is scheduled to ship on December 25.
An Alternate-History Cold War
Launched in December 2022 within Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine, the series presented a stark, divergent timeline where the Soviet Union remained intact and the Cold War extended across two centuries. Featuring character designs by Noboru Kannatsuki, the narrative followed a lone operative armed with antique machine guns navigating the treacherous streets of a snow-choked northern capital.
English-speaking readers have enjoyed access to the property via Yen Press, which publishes both the manga and the accompanying light novel adaptation written by Kagyu under SB Creative. Meanwhile, Kagyu's broader literary footprint continues to expand across the industry, highlighted by upcoming animation projects and enduring dark fantasy works like Goblin Slayer!.
