Kadokawa's Fantasia Bunko imprint has officially announced that Daigo Murasaki's acclaimed cyberpunk fantasy light novel series Demon Lord 2099 will conclude with its upcoming sixth volume. The milestone brings a definitive close to the futuristic chronicle of Veltol Velvet Velsvolt.
From Cyberpunk Genesis to Final Chapter
Author Daigo Murasaki initially secured the Grand Prize at the 33rd Fantasia Taisho in 2020 with the manuscript originally titled Ken to Maou no Cyberpunk. Following a rebrand to Demon Lord 2099, the series launched under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label in January 2021, accompanied by striking illustrations from Kureta. The narrative has since expanded across multiple mediums, including a second manga adaptation illustrated by Yutaka Sakurai and an English release handled by Yen Press.
The Techno-Magical Legacy
Fans experienced the universe beyond the page through a 12-episode television anime adaptation produced by J.C.Staff, which broadcasted during the Fall 2024 season and streamed worldwide via Crunchyroll. The story uniquely bridges high fantasy and hyper-advanced urban decay, following a resurrected dark lord navigating the neon-lit, corporate-controlled sprawl of Shinjuku through live streaming and techno-magical intrigue.
