King Records has officially launched a dedicated website to announce a television anime adaptation of Daken’s acclaimed adventure fantasy light novel series, Monster no Niku wo Kutte Itara Oui ni Tsuita Ken (How I Became King by Eating Monsters). Production duties have been entrusted to acclaimed animation studio White Fox, with an ambitious broadcast window slated for 2027.
Originally born on the user-generated publishing platform Shousetsuka ni Narou where Daken serialized the text between January 2022 and January 2023, the narrative found a permanent home under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels imprint. Featuring intricate character designs and world illustrations by Shiba, the light novel series continues to expand its footprint. Concurrently, a manga adaptation illustrated by Karin Suzurahi has been running in Hakusensha's Young Animal Zero magazine since January 2024, broadening the franchise's reach ahead of its transition to the screen.
A Deadly Royal Survival Story
The narrative follows Mars, the young first prince of the kingdom of Farune. Plagued by constant threats of assassination and poisoned meals, twelve-year-old Mars escapes the heavily guarded confines of the castle into a perilous, monster-filled forest. Starving and desperate, he discovers an astonishing biological secret: consuming the flesh of defeated monsters grants him immense strength and mystical growth.
You have promise. Become my apprentice.

Armed with unorthodox combat training and monster-powered resilience, he transitions from a hunted royal heir to a central player in sprawling continental conflicts and political machinations.
