During the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online 2026 event, Kadokawa officially confirmed that Kien Aien's acclaimed fantasy romance light novel series Kochira, Shuumatsu Teitai Iinkai (This Is the End Stagnation Committee.) is being adapted into a television anime. Alongside the major announcement, production teams revealed a brand-new teaser promotional video to mark the occasion.

Originally launched in July 2024 under Kadokawa's prominent Dengeki Bunko imprint, the source material features atmospheric illustrations by Ogipote. The franchise quickly found critical acclaim, securing the second position in the new release category and fourth place in the paperback division of the prestigious Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2025 guidebook. The narrative also expanded into a manga adaptation illustrated by Yutaka Sakurai via Shounen Ace Plus starting in April 2025.
