During its recent broadcast, Capcom presented an extended trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the major expansion slated to expand the world of Monster Hunter Wilds in 2027. The showcase concluded with a high-profile teaser for the iconic Elder Dragon Teostra, alongside a deeper look at new combat innovations designed to refine the core hunting loop.
Enhanced Mechanics & Crossplay Integration
The updated footage highlighted several quality-of-life adjustments and combat mechanics introduced in the expansion. Key additions include the Boost Bracer attachment and Boost Drivers, which enable powerful follow-up actions, tactical guarding, and enhanced combo routes. Capcom also demonstrated a faster mid-combat weapon swap system, equipment adjustments outside hunter tents, and an upgraded interface displaying monster hide toughness in far greater detail.
Additionally, Capcom confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release on December 4 will fully support crossplay alongside local wireless play. The Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion and all post-launch title updates will be integrated into the Switch 2 version, bringing the full ecosystem to Nintendo's new hardware.
Since its initial release in February 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved unprecedented commercial success, moving over 8 million units in its first three days and surpassing 10 million copies shortly thereafter. With previous title updates introducing fan favorites like Mizutsune and a major Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration, Ascendance marks the next major frontier for the blockbuster franchise.
