From Light Novel Success to Screen
Based on the acclaimed fantasy romance light novels written by Rinne Ishida with illustrations by Izumi, the narrative explores imperial court dynamics heavily inspired by historical Chinese dynasties. The plot follows Matsurika, an inner palace court lady renowned for her eidetic memory. Her quiet life shifts dramatically when an assignment to assist with a noble marriage meeting reveals that her prospective partner is none other than Emperor Hakuyō himself.
With the source material boasting over 2.68 million copies in circulation across physical and digital editions following its 19th volume release, the franchise has sustained a thriving readership. Alongside the novels, a manga adaptation illustrated by Takase serialized in Akita Shoten's Monthly Princess magazine, further expanding the property's footprint ahead of its television debut across networks including Tokyo MX, MBS, TV Aichi, and BS11.
