The eagerly awaited television anime adaptation of CLAMP’s legendary fantasy masterpiece Magic Knight Rayearth (Mahou Kishi Rayearth) is continuing its rollout with official previews for its second episode. Titled "The Beginning of a Legend," Episode 2 is slated to air on October 14, 2026, across TV Asahi’s "IMAnimation W" programming block.
This ambitious modern production arrives more than three decades after the iconic 1994–1995 TV anime adaptation by Tokyo Movie Shinsha. Helmed by director Yui Miura at animation studio E&H production, the new series brings CLAMP’s timeless creation back to contemporary screens with a star-studded voice cast. Ayane Sakura voices Hikaru Shido, Rumi Okubo stars as Umi Ryuuzaki, and Rie Takahashi portrays Fuu Hououji. The sweeping Isekai adventure also features Saori Hayami as Princess Emeraude, Yuki Ono as Zagato, and Megumi Ogata alongside a massive roster of top-tier industry talent, with musical compositions handled by Yuki Kajiura, Takumi Ozawa, and Shiho Terada.
Episode 2 Preview and Narrative Arc
Following their unexpected summoning from Tokyo Tower into the alternate realm of Cephiro, middle schoolers Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu have learned of their true identities as the legendary Magic Knights. They now bear the heavy responsibility of rescuing Princess Emeraude—the Pillar whose prayers maintain the world’s fragile peace—from the clutches of the wicked high priest Zagato.
In the upcoming second episode, the three heroines officially accept their monumental quest. Guided by destiny, they set out toward the enigmatic Silent Forest, where an essential guide awaits them. However, safety remains fleeting as Zagato’s relentless pursuers close in rapidly behind them.
The series airs every Wednesday at 11:45 PM JST in Japan, with concurrent streaming rolling out across major platforms globally. As E&H production continues to breathe new life into CLAMP's iconic magical girl mechanics and high-stakes fantasy universe, expectations remain extraordinarily high for the remainder of this split-cour broadcast.
