Universal Studios Japan has officially revealed its upcoming seasonal lineup details for Universal Cool Japan 2027. Scheduled to kick off on December 2, 2026, the massive immersive event brings some of Japan's most celebrated pop culture phenomena to life with high-end production values and interactive environments.
As part of the second wave of announcements, USJ confirmed a major returning collaboration with the global smash hit The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto). Following up on previous immersive experiences, this new program opens on February 10, 2027, and runs through June 30, 2027. The upcoming attraction ties directly into the theatrical film The Apothecary Diaries: The Secret of the Consort, promising a completely revamped narrative experience set against a sprawling waterside city backdrop.
Written by Natsu Hyuuga, the original light novel series has surpassed 57 million copies in circulation worldwide. The clever protagonist Maomao, her razor-sharp deductive reasoning, and her intricate dynamic with the influential court eunuch Jinshi have captured audiences across generations. With a third television season on the horizon and massive international attendance at events like Anime Expo, the franchise continues to solidify its status as a pillar of modern anime culture.
Visitors heading to Universal Studios Japan can look forward to stepping directly into Maomao's world, replacing the previous mystery-walk setup with a brand-new scenario inspired by the cinematic release. Additional details regarding the event programming, along with further updates concerning concurrent properties like Sailor Moon, will be unveiled by the park in the coming months.
