The unique romantic comedy manga Kizuguchi to Houtai (Wounds and Bandages) is officially making the leap to television. The production committee announced that the series will premiere on January 9, 2027, broadcasting nationwide in Japan on the ABC TV and TV Asahi 'ANiMAZiNG!!!' programming block. To celebrate the milestone, studio J.C.Staff unveiled a striking new teaser visual centered around the theme of 'Love', alongside the very first promotional video introducing the eccentric character dynamics.
Based on the provocative manga by Kaisei Nanai serialized in Kodansha's 'TsukiMaga Kichi', the story follows Riyo, the pampered daughter of the Washizu yakuza syndicate. She develops a unique fetish for watching strong individuals become vulnerable—a distinct penchant known as being a 'yowara'. Appointed as her keeper is loyal underboss Kiritani, whose daily routine involves trying to maintain professional dignity while getting swept up in Riyo's unorthodox psychological games. The manga has steadily built a passionate following across its first five collected volumes for its clever blend of yakuza intrigue and chaotic romantic comedy.
Alongside the premiere date, the first main voice cast members were confirmed. Hisako Kanemoto will star as the yakuza heiress Washizu Riyo, while Chikahiro Kobayashi will step into the role of the beleaguered enforcer Kiritani Go. Both actors shared their enthusiasm for bringing the quirky source material to life.
Cast Comments
There are so many wonderful charms to this story, and the characters' facial expressions are simply fantastic—whether they look adorable or display exquisite, complex emotions. I approached the recording hoping to convey their rich inner lives through voice alone! Balancing romance, comedy, and these unusual fetishes while skipping back and forth makes their clumsy sides feel all the more endearing.

It's finally happening! We record these sessions in the morning, and thanks to having to raise my voice so much, it somehow gives me the energy to get through the entire day. I'm certain viewers will feel energized watching it too—though from a 'yowara' perspective, that might actually have the opposite effect!

Behind the scenes, J.C.Staff has assembled a dedicated creative team to spearhead the animation adaptation. Miyuki Ishida is directing the series, with Susumu Yamakawa handling script composition and Natsuki Ooyama designing the characters. Following its television debut on ABC TV and TV Asahi, the series will also receive an advance broadcast on AT-X and a premier streaming release via ABEMA starting January 9. Producers have promised four consecutive weeks of visual and cast reveals leading up to the broadcast, signaling plenty of upcoming news for fans of romantic comedy.
