The romantic comedy manga Kakunaru Ue wa (Drawing Closer), serialized in Hakusensha's Young Animal, has officially confirmed its television anime premiere for January 2027. Alongside the broadcast window, production committee members revealed the debut promotional video, key character artwork, and core staff members spearheading the project.
Penned by author Yumi Takahata and illustrated by Yuuji Kama, the original manga follows Yuki Uehara, an aspiring manga creator devoted entirely to 2D culture. His path crosses with Niina Miyamoto, a popular gyaru classmate who secretly harbors her own ambitions of drawing manga. What begins as a practical arrangement for 'secret simulated romance' to improve their storytelling evolves into a heartfelt adolescent journey.

The newly unveiled promotional video showcases the dynamic chemistry between Yuki and Niina, offering a first look at the vibrant animation handled by studio ROLL2. Voice actor Ayumu Murase stars as the introverted and passionate Yuki Uehara, while Sayumi Suzushiro voices the energetic and bold heroine Niina Miyamoto.
