The upcoming supernatural television anime adaptation of Horror Collector (Kyofu Collector) has officially locked in its premiere date. Following its initial announcement in December, the series is scheduled to debut on October 10. Along with the broadcast date, production teams revealed a new main visual and an eerie teaser trailer that sets the dark, urban legend-infused atmosphere of the show.
At the center of the series is a standout voice cast. Hiiro Ishibashi steps into the role of Fushigi Senno, accompanied by Jun Fukuyama as Jimmy, Saori Hayami as Himitsu, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as the ominous Blue Umbrella Man. The production brings together notable talent behind the scenes, with director Yuki Inaba—recognized for his work on KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World—steering the project at animation studio Studio Palette.
Urban Legends and Dark Origins
The series draws its inspiration from the children's horror novel series penned by Midori Sato, featuring supervision by veteran horror director Norio Tsuruta (noted for Ring 0: Birthday and Orochi) and illustrations by Yon. Launched under the KADOKAWA Tsubasa Bunko imprint in 2015, the franchise has expanded significantly, reaching 28 volumes by May 2026, alongside an accompanying manga adaptation licensed internationally by Yen Press.
The internet is full of creepypastas, cryptid sightings, tales of paranormal activity, and unsolved disappearances. These are mostly rumors and pranks fueled by trolls—entertainment. But the unlucky few learn the hard way that some legends are true. Many of these unfortunate souls are doomed, but their luck may change if they cross paths with the boy in the red hood.
Yen Press, Official Synopsis
Fans looking to explore the origins of the creepy encounters can find both the original novels and the manga adaptation available through Yen Press, as Studio Palette prepares to bring these internet-inspired nightmares to television screens this coming October.
