The official website for the anime adaptation of Mai Matsuda's manga Walking Home with You (Hōkago Kitaku Biyori) opened on Wednesday, bringing major updates for fans of the slice-of-life series. The newly launched portal confirmed that the project will air as a television series, scheduling its official broadcast for April 2027 on the NTV network.
Alongside the format and broadcast window, the production unveiled a striking teaser visual capturing the series' whimsical atmosphere. The promotional artwork features the intriguing tagline, "The requirement for joining the club is walking home with me." To celebrate the anime greenlight milestone, original creator Mai Matsuda also shared a special commemorative illustration for the community.
Digital manga publisher Omoi licenses the original series in English, detailing its heartfelt premise centered on Shun, a former middle school soccer star sidelined by an injury. Adrift and lacking passion in high school, his routine changes entirely when he encounters an eccentric upperclassman named Naoki. She drafts him into her unofficial “Hyper-Epic Heading Home Club,” turning ordinary afternoon walks into imaginative detours and minor adventures.
Mai Matsuda originally launched the manga in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine in August 2023, following prior success with works like Hikaru in the Light!. With Futabasha releasing the seventh compiled book volume, anticipation continues to build for how the studio will bring Matsuda's gentle yet vibrant world to television screens.
