Atsushi Nishigori's highly anticipated original anime film Grotesqqque has confirmed an early streaming window for one of its core segments on Netflix in Japan. Ahead of its theatrical debut in November, viewers will be able to experience the 'Yoroshiku★Girl' segment early, running for a limited time from October 23 to November 5. The ambitious omnibus project hails from animation studio CloverWorks and is rooted in the collaborative JOEN production framework established by industry titans.
An Ambitious Triple-Feature Narrative
Directed, written, and conceptualized entirely by Nishigori—renowned for his directorial work on The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX—the film is structured as an omnibus feature uniting three distinct narratives with divergent thematic worldviews: 'A(E)liens', 'Yoroshiku★Girl', and 'Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque'. The project recently held its international spotlight with a world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, followed by a special United States premiere hosted by the Japan Society in New York City with Nishigori in attendance.
Stellar Ensemble and Musical Lineup
The anthology brings together an expansive voice cast distributed across its segments. The 'A(E)liens' chapter stars Kana Ichinose as Ellie, Gen Hoshino as Kento Kurikura, and Akio Ōtsuka as the Space Agency Bureau Director. Meanwhile, the 'Yoroshiku★Girl' segment features Sara Minami, Ikumi Hasegawa, Saori Hayami, and Maaya Uchida. The final segment, 'Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque', showcases members of the idol group Nogizaka46, including Nagi Inoue and Aruno Nakanishi.
Complementing its narrative ambition, the production incorporates contributions from an immense roster of 35 distinct musical acts across its stories. The band METALVERSE performs the opening theme song 'Shoot Shoot Shoot,' setting a high-energy tone for the theatrical release distributed via Aniplex.
