Following last month's light novel announcement, the transmedia expansion of Kinema Citrus's 15th-anniversary anime project Goodbye, Lara continues to grow. It has been officially revealed that a manga adaptation is on the way, illustrated by Saburouta, renowned for the internationally acclaimed yuri manga Citrus. The manga version will commence serialization on Kadocomi this October, arriving alongside the novelization.
To celebrate the announcement, an official preview visual was unveiled, showcasing Lara, Mari, and Grace in her Gon-chan form:
The original television anime series premiered on July 5, scheduled for a 12-episode run. The narrative follows a mermaid princess named Lara who traded her oceanic home for humanity centuries ago to pursue true love. Awaking in Lake Biwa 200 years later, she faces one final chance to secure her destiny before dissolving into sea foam.
Helmed by Revue Starlight assistant director Takushi Koide in his series directorial debut, the production brings together notable talent including character designer Shiori Tani, series composer Anna Kawahara, and music composer yuma yamaguchi. The voice cast features Hana Hishikawa as Lara and Nana Kawaishi as Mari Otsu.
