Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine officially announced that Yu Hibari's light novel series Watashi de Dōtei Suteta Kuse ni (Even Though You Lost Your Virginity to Me) is expanding into a manga format. The series is set to launch on September 29 via Kadokawa's Shōnen Ace Plus digital platform, with illustrations handled by Shūsei Kirisaki.
A Complicated Childhood Dynamic
The post-breakup romantic comedy narrative revolves around lifelong childhood companions Kōta and Sakura. Having grown up side-by-side, their bond historically surpassed standard friendship boundaries. While public rumors painted them as an infallible pair, their actual history consisted of a solitary formal date devoid of romantic undertones.
Maintaining their familiar, non-romantic arrangement, Sakura casually teases Kōta about his experiences. However, the dynamic shifts dramatically when Kōta—who considers himself an expert on all things Sakura—discovers she has won a prestigious literary award. As Sakura pursues her creative aspirations, the distance between the two childhood friends begins to grow.
Author Track Record and Publishing Background
Yu Hibari initially released the light novel's debut volume under Kadokawa's renowned Dengeki Bunko imprint in April, featuring artwork by U35, with the second volume following in August. Hibari's extensive portfolio also includes other prominent light novel titles, such as Tenbin, which recently inspired a television anime adaptation streamed globally by Crunchyroll under the English title Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her.
