The GalaXic Baseball League initially debuted as a digital exclusive on the Viz Manga app earlier this year in July. Written and illustrated by Acky Bright, the narrative takes America's historic pastime and projects it into a cosmic arena. Viz describes the expansive universe where interplanetary teams clash for galactic glory while legendary athletes team up with ordinary heroes to thwart a dark conspiracy threatening Earth.
The Inspiration & Star-Studded Roster
Notably, this marks the first major sports intellectual property project to incorporate active professional baseball players directly into its fictional universe. The creator drew primary creative inspiration from the dramatic 2023 World Baseball Classic final. Real-world baseball superstars integrated into the narrative include Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Aaron Judge, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jazz Chisholm Jr., Kyle Schwarber, and Paul Skenes.
Artist Pedigree
Artist Acky Bright brings a wealth of international design experience to the enterprise. Having founded the design studio Brightworks in Japan, his striking manga-inspired aesthetics have previously reached global audiences through official collaborations with DC Comics, Marvel, Hasbro's Transformers, and various esports circuits. His distinct artistic footprint highlights the growing intersection between traditional Japanese illustration styles and major Western entertainment franchises.
