Manga creator Kei Urana announced via social media that the gritty urban fantasy series Gachiakuta will officially resume serialization on November 11, ending a temporary hiatus that began in August. Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine previously noted that the pause was taken to allow the author time to conduct essential research for the series' intricate world-building.
Return to the Pit
The manga last appeared in the 36th and 37th combined issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine on August 5, after which editorial updates confirmed a scheduled break for research purposes. With the upcoming November 11 return, readers can prepare to follow the next phase of Rudo's descent and survival in the monster-infested Pit.
Kodansha USA Publishing handles the English release of the manga, introducing readers to its brutal premise:
Rudo lives in the slums of a floating town, where the poor scrape by under the shadow of the rich who live a sumptuous life, simply casting their garbage off the side, into the abyss. Then one day, he's falsely accused of murder, and his wrongful conviction leads to an unimaginable punishment—exile off the edge, with the rest of the trash. Down on the surface, the cast-off waste of humanity has bred vicious monsters, and if Rudo wants to have any hope of discovering the truth and seeking vengeance against those who cast him into Hell, he will have to master a new power and join a group known as the Cleaners who battle the hulking trash beasts of the Pit!
Franchise Growth and Animation Pedigree
Launched by Kei Urana in February 2022 with graffiti designs by Hideyoshi Ando, Gachiakuta has steadily expanded its footprint across media. Kodansha published the 19th compiled book volume this past July.
The property further broadened its reach with a television anime adaptation produced by Bones, which premiered in July 2025 across Japanese broadcasting networks and streaming globally via Crunchyroll. Following the strong reception of its broadcast run, a second season of the anime adaptation has already been confirmed, ensuring that fans of the franchise have plenty of content to anticipate alongside the resumption of the manga.
