The editorial team behind Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine has shared a fresh status update regarding Kei Urana's gritty dark fantasy manga series, Gachiakuta. Following an absence from the magazine's pages since early August, the publisher confirmed that a definitive return date for the series will be announced as soon as production preparations are finalized.
Hiatus Details and Production Research
The manga last delivered a chapter in the combined 36th and 37th issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine, which hit shelves on August 5. According to official publication notices, the ongoing break was initiated to give creator Kei Urana adequate time to conduct intensive background research for the narrative's next arc. The publisher assured readers that updates regarding the resumption of serialization will be communicated directly through the magazine's official communication channels.
Franchise Scope and Adaptation Context
Launched by Kei Urana with graffiti designs by Hideyoshi Ando in February 2022, Gachiakuta has steadily built a dedicated following with its dystopian premise, centering on Rudo and his fight for survival after being cast into a monster-infested abyss. The property expanded further into the animation space with a television adaptation produced by Bones, which premiered in July 2025 across Japanese television and streamed internationally via Crunchyroll, alongside a confirmed second season currently in development.
