The political intrigue and body-swapping drama of Futsutsukana Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga ~Hinomiya Chōso Torikae Den~ are set to return to television screens. Official announcements have confirmed that the television anime series will continue with its second cour starting in January 2027, promising a broader scope as the narrative moves beyond the boundaries of the imperial palace.
Based on the popular light novel series written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by Yukiya, alongside the comic adaptation by Eiji Ohitsu published in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum, the franchise has accumulated a massive readership exceeding 5 million copies. The original works have achieved substantial critical acclaim, including top placements in major electronic comic awards and light novel rankings.
Alongside the premiere window, studio Doga Kobo revealed a fresh key visual illustrated by character designer Ai Kikuchi. In stark contrast to the first cour, the new artwork features central figures Reirin, Huizue, Riri, and Fuyuki alongside newly introduced characters Keikou Kou, Keishou Kou, and Unran. Furthermore, the production team announced high-profile additions to the voice cast: Yuichi Nakamura will voice Keikou Kou, Shunichi Toki steps into the role of Keishou Kou, and Chiaki Kobayashi brings the mysterious Unran to life.
