The historical fantasy anime adaptation Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court has officially confirmed its return for a second cour, slated to premiere in January 2027. Following the emotional conclusion of its inaugural run, the upcoming episodes will adapt the pivotal The First Royal Outing arc, tracking the evolving dynamic between Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu.

Following their dramatic body-swap ordeal, the two former rivals have forged an unlikely bond of camaraderie. Their next journey takes them far from the imperial capital into the southern territories governed by the influential Shu family. To anchor this broader narrative horizon, the production team has announced three notable additions to the voice cast:

  • Yuichi Nakamura as Kou Keikou, Reirin’s eldest brother
  • Shunichi Toki as Kou Keishou, Reirin’s second-eldest brother
  • Chiaki Kobayashi as Unran, the young village leader in the southern territories
