Following the monumental conclusion of Oreko Tachibana's acclaimed historical romance series Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri), the creator has announced plans to launch an entirely new manga project this winter. Serialized through Shogakukan's popular Manga ONE digital application, the upcoming release shifts genres toward a high-stakes political fantasy.
A New Tale of Divided Nations
Early promotional details for Tachibana's upcoming winter release tease a compelling clash of ideals and identity. The narrative focuses on two formidable leaders standing on opposing sides of a deep geopolitical divide who are strictly forbidden from falling in love: the prince ruling a nation of men, and the fierce chief governing a nation of women. This intriguing premise promises the same emotional tension and character-driven stakes that defined her previous works.
The Legacy of Firefly Wedding
Tachibana originally debuted Firefly Wedding on the Manga ONE app in January 2023, steering the dark tale of Satoko—a noblewoman with a terminal illness who proposes to her assassin, Shinpei, to save her own life—to its emotional finale in February. The series has since expanded into a robust multimedia franchise, featuring an ongoing television anime adaptation produced by David Production that premiered in October on Fuji TV's prestigious Noitamina block, alongside an upcoming live-action television series slated for 2027.
