The cyberpunk landscapes of Akihito Yoshitomi's iconic Eat-Man universe are expanding once more. Following the recent announcement of the upcoming anime project EAT-MAN The Over Order, the official social media channels confirmed that Yoshitomi will pen a brand-new spinoff manga titled Desert-Dessert From EAT-MAN The Over Order. The publication is slated to debut in the January 2027 issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, hitting shelves on November 26.
The creative roster behind the upcoming adaptation brings together veteran industry talent. Shunji Ōga is directing the project at Studio Cab, backed by Yoshitomi himself spearheading original story concepts and initial character designs. Meanwhile, character designer Satoshi Hirayama is translating Yoshitomi's distinct aesthetic for contemporary animation production. Fans can also rejoice as Masashi Ebara officially returns to voice the legendary, metal-devouring protagonist, Bolt Crank.
Yoshitomi's original Eat-Man manga ran from 1996 through 2002, capturing readers with its inventive premise of a mercenary who can consume any physical matter and reconstruct it through his right hand. After subsequent serialization waves including Eat-Man The Main Dish, this latest transmedia push marks a nostalgic yet fresh revival for classic 90s speculative fiction.
