The highly anticipated cross-cultural fantasy adaptation Dreamland has officially locked in its premiere schedule. Based on the French shonen manga by creator Reno Lemaire, the series is set to debut on October 17, 2026, kicking off its broadcast run across Japan via ABC TV and TV Asahi's nationwide network under the ANiMAZiNG!!! programming block.
Originating from France, Lemaire’s manga has cultivated a dedicated cult following and surpassed 80,000 copies in circulation, celebrated heavily for its deep reverence for traditional Japanese sequential art. Spearheading the adaptation is director Juan Pablo Machado, whose artistic sensibilities are heavily shaped by a lifetime of studying Japanese animation techniques. Animation production is being handled by European studios Ellipse & La Chouette Compagnie, while the Japanese broadcast features a fully localized voice cast including Shoya Hatano as Terrence, Asami Tano as Eve, and Kaede Hondo as Lydia.
The Awakening of a Dream Traveller
The story follows Terrence, a young man who has been haunted by an intense fear of fire and recurring nightmares ever since losing his mother in a tragic blaze. Everything changes the night he realizes he is dreaming, allowing him to conquer his trauma and awaken as a 'Traveller'—someone capable of navigating Dreamland, a sprawling realm born from the collective hopes and nightmares of humanity.
Alongside the premiere date, production teams unveiled preview imagery for the opening installment. Episode 1 will focus on Terrence's harrowing encounter with his past and his initial transition into the supernatural dreamscape.
Following its television broadcast, streaming will kick off globally and locally across platforms including U-NEXT, DMM TV, and ABEMA. Fans can anticipate a unique blend of Western comic sensibilities and anime-centric kinetic direction when the series arrives this autumn.
