Developer Level 5 has showcased new footage for its upcoming crime suspense role-playing game DECAPOLICE during Tokyo Game Show, releasing two dedicated trailers that highlight its narrative premise and mystery-solving gameplay mechanics. Alongside the media reveal, the publisher confirmed that the game and its previously announced companion television anime are now scheduled for release in 2027 across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
Virtual Sleuthing and Tactical Combat
The first preview offers a deeper look into the narrative, following protagonist Harvard Marks, a rookie investigator assigned to the Special Investigation Unit at Broadstone Police Center. The squad relies on Decasim, a virtual detective training simulator that creates an exact digital replica of reality. The story escalates when a mysterious hacker infiltrates the system, transforming virtual avatars into puppets and disrupting police operations.
In addition to narrative highlights, the musical backdrop features the theme song "City of Love" performed by MARiA of GARNiDELiA. Level 5 is also collaborating with real-world escape room designer SCRAP to build intricate investigation mechanics into the title's crime scenes.
Revised Release Schedule
The second trailer focuses heavily on core interactive systems, detailing how players gather evidence at virtual crime scenes, deduce culprit identities, and transition into turn-based tactical combat when suspects manifest shadowy "Crime Beasts."
Originally slated for a 2023 release, DECAPOLICE has undergone multiple production shifts as Level 5 adjusted its scope. The updated schedule officially moves the title to 2027 while shifting hardware target platforms to next-generation systems, dropping previously planned releases for the original Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The television anime series remains planned to debut concurrently with the game launch.
