Developer Level-5 announced during its Vision 2026 II Dream broadcast that the crime suspense RPG DECAPOLICE has suffered another setback, pushing its launch window back to 2027. Originally planned for a 2023 debut before successive moves to 2025 and 2026, the studio is restructuring its release strategy around next-generation hardware.
Alongside the schedule adjustment, Level-5 revealed that versions for the original Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 have been cancelled entirely. Instead, the detective title is currently targeting Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. A television anime adaptation remains in production and is scheduled to air concurrently with the software release in 2027.
Virtual Investigations and Tactical Clashes
The latest trailer previews narrative details and detective mechanics from "The Three Mafioso Murders" case. Players step into the shoes of Harvard Marks, an ambitious novice investigator attached to the Broadstone Police Center's Special Investigation Unit. In order to analyze mysteries without immediate physical peril, authorities utilize Decasim, a virtual simulation recreating real-world environments down to microscopic details. Complications arise when a malicious intruder hacks the software, transforming denizens within the simulation into uncanny marionettes.
Gameplay blends forensic crime scene analysis, deductive problem solving, and tactical turn-based skirmishes. Once an investigation pins down a suspect, detectives must corner them in mental clashes where perpetrators manifest distorted manifestations known as Crime Beasts. Real-world escape room company SCRAP is partnering with Level-5 on puzzle design, while vocal artist MARiA (of GARNiDELiA fame) provides the vocal theme song "City of Love."
