Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Crunchyroll streaming application on the Nintendo Switch will be discontinued on October 30, 2026. Users who currently have the app installed on their devices will retain access until the cutoff date, after which service on the hybrid console will cease entirely.
Next-Gen Uncertainty
Addressing future hardware compatibility, Crunchyroll's support documentation states that the platform is not currently available for the Nintendo Switch 2. The company highlighted that Nintendo's upcoming console currently lacks support for several video-on-demand services, leaving anime viewers without a native option on launch hardware. Crunchyroll noted that no announcements regarding a future Switch 2 app are presently available.
Platform Availability
While the service prepares to exit Nintendo hardware, Crunchyroll remains accessible across PlayStation, Xbox, mobile devices, media players, Smart TVs, and web browsers. This device migration follows recent commercial adjustments by parent company Sony, including subscription price increases across major global tiers and the termination of free ad-supported streaming access.
