North American distributor GKIDS has officially announced that it will bring Kyoto Animation's vibrant adaptation of Keiichi Arawi's CITY The Animation to physical media. The exclusive Collector's Edition Blu-ray Disc will launch on December 15 via the company's online store, catering to collectors and physical media enthusiasts eager to own the studio's celebrated return to television comedy.
The comprehensive release packs a substantial array of physical and on-disc bonuses. Buyers will receive a 72-page booklet, four distinct art cards, an A3 promotional poster, and cut-out movies 1 through 13. On the digital front, the disc includes standard previews, television spots, team preview footage, and clean opening and ending animation sequences stripped of onscreen credits.
Directed by Taichi Ishidate at Kyoto Animation, the series marked a monumental milestone for the studio as its first non-sequel television project in six years. The creative roster also features character design and chief animation direction by Tamami Tokuyama, art direction by Shiori Yamazaki, and an eclectic musical score composed by the quartet Piranhans, with theme songs performed by Riho Furui and TOMOO.
Based on the manga by Nichijou creator Keiichi Arawi, CITY The Animation captures the eccentric, chaotic, and heartwarming daily lives of an unforgettable neighborhood's residents. Following its worldwide streaming debut on Amazon Prime Video, this physical release gives fans a definitive home video version of one of recent years' most visually inventive comedy productions.
