During the ABEMA Anime Matsuri 2026 event, Shinei Animation officially confirmed that ATASHIn'CHI Next, the ongoing net anime adaptation celebrating the 30th anniversary of Eiko Kera's iconic manga, will continue with an additional batch of episodes.
Helming the production is director Taku Kimura, known for his work on Chainsmoker Cat. The studio also rolled out a promotional teaser video during the presentation, giving fans a fresh look at the chaotic yet heartwarming daily routine of the Tachibana household.
A Pillar of Slice-of-Life Comedy
Originally launched in 1994 by Eiko Kera in the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper, the ATASHIn'CHI manga spent nearly two decades defining the everyday comedy genre before concluding in 2012. Kera later returned to the franchise in December 2019 with the serialization of ATASHIn'CHI SUPER.
The series revolves around the endearing, unpretentious antics of the Tachibana family:
ATASHIn'CHI ... describes the everyday life of the Tachibana family: Mother, who tries her best in everything she does despite her clumsiness; Father, who says little and insists on doing everything his way; Mikan, a high school romantic; and Yuzuhiko, who might appear to be emotionless at first glance but is quite naïve.
Shinei Animation & AlphaBoat
The franchise previously inspired a long-running television series from 2002 to 2009, multiple theatrical films, and the 2015 continuation Shin ATASHIn'CHI. With the ongoing rollout of ATASHIn'CHI Next, fans continue to receive loving adaptations of classic manga chapters that missed out on getting animated during the original broadcast runs.
