The production team behind the comedic short-form anime series Ahare! Meisaku-kun has officially announced that the franchise will expand with brand-new episodes slated for January 2027. Ahead of the upcoming winter broadcast, the broadcasting schedule will feature reruns of legacy episodes to keep the community engaged with the chaotic world of Ryugu Elementary School.
Distributed internationally by AnimeLog, the series unfolds at the prestigious Ryugu Elementary School—a renowned institution famous for cultivating legendary literary figures. The narrative centers on an ordinary boy named Matsuda Meisaku, who navigates school life alongside an eccentric cast of characters, including the hyperactive Sweetie, the perpetually irate Onigiri character Musubi, the robotic narcissist Nokio, and Bolt, a student far faster than any rabbit.
Staff Return and Franchise Pedigree
The continuation sees the reunion of core creative talent at animation studio Pie in the sky. Director Taketo Shinkai and character designer Jun Oson are both locked in to helm the upcoming episodes. Since its initial debut in April 2016 during NHK Educational TV's Beat World variety program, the five-minute short format has cultivated a dedicated following through successful crowdfunding campaigns, memorable exhibition events at Shibuya PARCO, and global streaming via platforms like Crunchyroll and AnimeLog's official YouTube channel.
