Bandai Namco Pictures has officially announced the arrival of Aikatsu Stars! Hoshiboshi no Progress (The Progress of the Stars), an all-new theatrical film celebrating the 10th anniversary of the beloved idol franchise. During a special fan meeting event, producers showcased a vibrant full trailer alongside a fresh key visual, confirming a January 22 premiere date in Japanese theaters.
The newly released promotional footage treats longtime followers to a preview of the main theme song, "Five stars," as well as the ending track "Anata e" (To You), both performed by Sena, Rie, Miki, Nanase, and Kana. Bearing the evocative tagline "Our rainbow-colored dream isn't over yet," the narrative finds Yume and her peers on the precipice of graduation, only to receive an unexpected invitation from Neo Venus Ark's Elza to perform at the prestigious "Venus Jamboree." Complicating their journey is the appearance of a mysterious passenger ship known as the Petit Venus Ark.
Creative Staff and Legacy
Behind the production, original series director Teruo Sato returns to helm the anniversary project at Bandai Namco Pictures. He is joined by returning head writer Yūko Kakihara and character designer Yukiko Aikei, ensuring complete creative continuity with the television series that originally captivated audiences on TV Tokyo starting in April 2016.
Over the past decade, the broader Aikatsu! ecosystem has expanded significantly through various iterations, including Aikatsu Friends!, Aikatsu on Parade!, the hybrid live-action venture Aikatsu! Planet, and the recent YouTube-focused virtual idol project Aikatsu! Academy!. As this anniversary feature prepares to launch, it promises to capture the emotional core that defined Yume's journey from a hopeful rookie to a shining star of the stage.
