A fresh glimpse into the whimsical ruins of post-collapse Japan has arrived as Kadokawa unveiled the primary promotional video, key visual, and broadcast schedule for #I'm Looking For Zombie (#Zombie Sagashitemasu). The television adaptation based on the manga by Katsuwo—widely recognized for Mitsuboshi Colors and Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu—is scheduled to premiere on October 3 on TV Asahi's IMAnimation programming block alongside 23 affiliated stations, BS Asahi, and AT-X.
The preview introduces the project's musical identity, previewing the spirited opening theme song "Raki Raki" performed by vocaloid-producer-turned-soloist Surii, paired against the contemplative ending sequence track "Soft Apocalypse" courtesy of indie unit cadode.
Production Staff and Cast Additions
Steering the production at Studio Comet is director Shin'ya Une (Rent-A-Girlfriend season 3), supported by assistant director Kyōhei Suzuki. Scripts are being jointly overseen by Kenichi Yamashita and Aki Itami, while Narumi Shimoji adapts Katsuwo's rounded, expressive character art for animation. Musical composition is handled by Kenta Higashiohji.
Alongside lead cast members Miyari Nemoto (Aki), Lynn (Natsuki), and Toshiya Miyata (Haru), the production revealed an expanded secondary roster navigating the outside wasteland:
- Yōko Hikasa as Mikazuki, an experienced wanderer who explored the outside world prior to Aki
- Makoto Koichi as Tōka, an invaluable mechanic rescued from the undead by Haru
- Tomoyo Takayanagi as Takamo, the sharp-tongued commander overseeing the Ueno Base
- Aino Shimada as Saigo, Takamo's twelve-year-old brother
- Kōsuke Toriumi as Aki's missing father
Premise and Source Heritage
Billed as an optimistic "youth comedy meets zombie apocalypse," the narrative takes place thirteen years following "Red Day"—a cataclysmic viral pandemic that claimed ninety percent of human civilization, returning victims to life as roaming undead. While older generations mourn the metropolises they lost, young protagonist Aki and her companions know only this overgrown frontier, choosing curiosity over despair as they set out across provincial ruins to track down Aki's estranged father.
The original three-volume manga serialized between June 2022 and January 2024 within Kadokawa's Comic Dengeki DaiohG. Yen Press holds the English license for the complete omnibus edition under the localized title #ImLookingForZombies.
