Amazon Prime Video has announced a global live-action series adaptation of Yugo Aosaki's celebrated mystery novel Jirai Glico (Glico with Landmines). Titled Rock Paper Landmine, the high-stakes psychological drama will premiere worldwide on November 13, starring Nana Mori as Mato Imoriya and Aju Makita as Kazahi Koda.
High-Stakes Mind Games
Directed by Kazuaki Seki and produced by company The Seven with producer Akira Morii, the series turns classic childhood pastimes into cutthroat intellectual showdowns. The story follows Mato Imoriya, a seemingly nonchalant high schooler with an extraordinary instinct for victory, who enters underground school gambling battles to protect her best friend. Rather than fighting for physical survival, students gamble their everyday youth, competing over school festival territories and chips valued at up to 90 million yen. The screenplays are penned by Tatsuhiro Mishima, Shiori Ueno, and Daiki Kobayashi, with original music composed by Yuma Yamaguchi.
First published by Kadokawa in November 2023, Aosaki's novel swept Japan's mystery literary circuit in 2024, securing the 24th Orthodox Mystery Award, the 77th Mystery Writers of Japan Award, and the 37th Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize. The property also expanded into a manga illustrated by Medaka Box artist Akira Akatsuki in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine. Aosaki is best known internationally as the creator of Undead Girl Murder Farce, which received a acclaimed television anime adaptation in 2023.
