The dark fantasy saga of Köinzell is reaching its next definitive turning point. The ninth issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine has announced that Etorouji Shiono's Übel Blatt II: Knights of the Fallen King will officially reach its final chapter this autumn. Following a brief one-month hiatus, the sequel series will conclude in the magazine's 11th issue on October 23.
End of a Dark Legacy
Launched in February 2024, Übel Blatt II: Knights of the Fallen King picks up one year after the climactic battle with Glenn. Serving as Viceroy Ascheriit within Empress Elsaria's Imperial Army, Köinzell works alongside Geranpen, Aht, and Ichfeis to quell regional rebellions. However, lingering loyalty to the fallen villain spawns a shadowy resistance known as the Knights of the Fallen King in the southern borderlands, thrusting Köinzell back into political intrigue and bloodshed.
One year after the battle with Glenn, Köinzell—now serving as Viceroy Ascheriit within the Imperial Army led by Empress Elsaria—is deployed to quell the rebellions that continue to plague the realm... The fates of Köinzell and the Seven Heroes have once again become inextricably intertwined.
The original Übel Blatt manga began its publication back in 2004 under Square Enix's Young Gangan, running for 23 volumes before concluding in June 2019. The franchise recently experienced a major resurgence, marked by a television anime adaptation produced for Amazon Prime Video in January 2025, bringing Shiono's brutal tale of vengeance and political warfare to global audiences. North American fans can read the sequel digitally via Manga UP! Global, with Yen Press handling the upcoming physical release.
