The executive committee behind the Tokyo Game Show 2026 exhibition announced the difficult decision to cancel the event's schedule for Monday, September 21, following severe weather warnings regarding an approaching typhoon. While the convention will proceed as scheduled through Sunday, September 20, the final day has been called off to ensure the safety of visitors, exhibitors, and convention staff.
Severe Weather Concerns
According to official statements from the convention organizers, meteorological forecasts indicate severe winds and heavy precipitation striking the Kanto region by Monday afternoon. Potential disruptions to public transit networks heavily influenced the precaution, aiming to prevent attendees from becoming stranded.
Due to the approaching typhoon, strong winds and heavy rain are expected from the afternoon of September 21. There is also a possibility that public transportation services may be affected, making it difficult for visitors and other attendees to return home safely.
Taking the safety of all attendees, exhibitors, staff, and other parties involved as our highest priority, we have decided to cancel the event for the entire day on September 21.

Visitors who purchased admission tickets for Monday will receive full refunds through the official ticketing channels. To accommodate fans missing out on the final day's lineup, event organizers are currently organizing alternative online broadcasts to stream key stage presentations originally planned for Monday.
This year's ambitious convention was designed to stretch across an unprecedented five days, marking a historic expansion for the long-running gaming expo. Business days took place on September 17 and 18, followed by initial public access days drawing strong attendance numbers of 53,630 on Thursday and 52,545 on Friday, building toward what would have been a holiday weekend finale.
