Utopai Studios has announced major creative additions to its upcoming feature-length animated adaptation of The Most Serious Fart, based on the bestselling children’s book by Mike Bender. Scott Muller, renowned casting director behind iconic animated fixtures such as The Simpsons, Futurama, and King of the Hill, has officially signed on to handle voice casting for the project. Alongside Muller, story artist Andy Brooks—whose credits include the troubled Coyote vs. Acme—will step in as the primary story artist for the film, targeting a theatrical premiere in 2027.
The production boasts a heavyweight creative roster filled with industry veterans. Joe Stillman, the Academy Award-nominated and BAFTA-winning writer behind Shrek, is attached as a co-executive producer. Former Pixar art director John Lee will serve as production designer, while Chuck Dillon, the original illustrator of Bender's book, takes on the role of creative art director to ensure the transition from page to screen honors its visual roots. Bender himself is pulling triple duty as writer, director, and producer, joined by producer Russell Hollander.
At the center of the narrative is Siegfried, a conscientious fart who feels deeply insecure about his existence and sets out on a quest to elevate the societal standing of flatulence everywhere. Addressing the artistic challenge of adapting such a whimsical premise, Muller emphasized the delicate balance required between broad comedy and genuine emotional core, noting that the search is on for voice actors who can ground the character's absurd struggles in authentic warmth.

Brooks brings over thirty years of experience from projects like Tom and Jerry and the Oscar-winning short The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, while Lee’s extensive background spans Pixar pillars like The Incredibles and Inside Out.
Developed over several years by Bender and Hollander, the project utilizes Utopai Studios' artist-led production framework.
