Kodansha has officially listed the upcoming 10th volume of Nana Mikoshiba's popular light novel fantasy series The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Hyōken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu) with a promotional blurb indicating that the volume will feature the overarching story's dramatic finale. The milestone book is scheduled to ship across Japan on December 2.
Mikoshiba's original narrative first debuted on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web novel platform back in October 2019 before concluding its web serialization in February 2022. Following its digital success, Kodansha picked up the property for print publication, launching the physical light novel line in July 2020 featuring striking illustrations by Riko Korie. Alongside the main novels, a manga adaptation illustrated by Norihito Sasaki ran on the Magazine Pocket platform from June 2020 to January 2024, spanning 16 collected volumes. A brand new sequel manga titled Hyōken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu II, illustrated by Nao Kagami with composition by Ishiya Ōgane, launched via Niconico Manga under the Suiyōbi no Sirius label earlier this year.
The franchise has expanded significantly beyond the page, capturing a dedicated international following. Crunchyroll licensed and streamed the first television anime adaptation produced by Yokohama Animation Laboratory when it premiered in January 2023, later delivering an English dub. The universe's ongoing expansion continues with the second season of the anime series, which premiered on October 8 and is currently streaming worldwide.
