The official website for The Fable television anime has pulled back the curtain on its upcoming second season, confirming a January 10, 2027 premiere date on the Nippon TV network. The upcoming run will adapt the intense Yamaoka Arc from Katsuhisa Minami's acclaimed crime comedy manga, bringing fresh narrative tension to the screen every Sunday.
Production Pedigree and New Cast Members
Alongside the premiere schedule, the production team revealed six major additions to the voice cast stepping into the gritty underworld. Kouichi Yamadera will voice the formidable Yamaoka, joined by Takanori Hoshino as Azami, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Eucalyptus, Satoshi Mikami as Koji Mizuno, Taiten Kusunoki as Jiro, and Seiyuu Fujiwara as Suzumushi.
Behind the camera, seasoned director Ryousuke Takahashi returns to helm the project at Tezuka Productions. The series composition is managed by Yuuya Takashima, who also shares scripting duties alongside Mayumi Morita. Character designs are shared by Saki Hasegawa and Kyuuma Ooshita, with musical compositions handled by Yo Tsuji.
Franchise Roots and Manga Legacy
The adaptation builds upon the foundation laid by the first season, which ran for 25 episodes in Spring 2024 and was globally simulcasted by Disney+ and Hulu. Katsuhisa Minami originally serialized the core manga in Weekly Young Magazine from 2014 to 2019, followed by The Fable: The Second Contact and the ongoing The Fable: The Third Secret. Having claimed the 41st Kodansha Manga Award in the General category, the property remains a pillar of modern crime fiction in Japanese animation and publishing.
