The upcoming television anime adaptation of The Diary of a Middle-Aged Sage’s Carefree Life in Another World has officially confirmed its premiere window, locking in a January 2027 debut. Alongside the broadcast announcement, producers released a debut teaser trailer and confirmed that veteran voice actor Tomokazu Sugita will star as the protagonist, the powerful arch-sage Zelos Merlin.
Franchise Origins and Staff Lineup
Based on the light novel series written by Kotobuki Yasukiyo and illustrated by JohnDee, the source material began serialization in 2016 on the popular web novel platform Shosetsuka ni Naro before being picked up by KADOKAWA’s MF Books label. The expanding fantasy empire also features a manga adaptation published by Square Enix, illustrated by Maneki with composition by Junpei Okazaki.
Bringing the virtual-reality-turned-reality isekai tale to the screen is animation studio YANCHESTER. The production team boasts notable industry talent, with Takayuki Inagaki (BIRDIE WING -Golf Girls’ Story-) directing the series, while Mariko Fujita (Kampfer) handles character designs.
