Maomao is stepping out of the pages of Natsu Hyuuga's light novels and off the television screen to step directly into the world of interactive entertainment. A brand-new title based on the sprawling historical mystery franchise, titled The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, has been officially announced. Slated for an early 2027 launch, the game is set to arrive across multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, the successor console currently referred to as Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
Co-developed by KOEI TECMO’s renowned Gust brand—celebrated for their expertise in crafting intricate alchemy and RPG systems through properties like the Atelier series—alongside TOHO Games, the title merges investigation, dialogue mechanics, and potion crafting. Players will step into the clogs of Maomao as she navigates the intricate political and social labyrinths of the imperial court, tackling two major narrative arcs: the Five Mysteries of the rear palace and the unsettling string of capital anomalies known as the Five Curses.
