The official X/Twitter account for the anime adaptation of Taizan 5's Takopi's Original Sin (Takopii no Genzai) manga has unveiled a fresh promotional video and key visual for the upcoming compilation film, titled Takopii no Genzai -Arigatō, Mata Ashita- (Takopi's Original Sin: Thank You, See You Tomorrow). The newly released trailer also previews the theme song "Rabyū" (Love You) performed by Tele, who previously contributed the ending theme for the television series.
Following its acclaimed six-episode television run that debuted across platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in June 2025—and notably secured the Jury Award for a TV series at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival—the project is being consolidated for the silver screen. Directed by Shinya Iino (Dr. Stone) with character designs by Keita Nagahara and production handled by ENISHIYA, the film is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on November 27.
A Dark Tale of Innocence and Tragedy
Originally serialized in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital platform from December 2021 to March 2022, Taizan 5's manga became a massive cultural talking point for its stark contrast between cute character designs and deeply harrowing psychological themes. Viz Media publishes the manga in English, introducing readers to the well-meaning pink alien Takopi:
Cute little alien Takopi lands on Earth. What is his mission? To be taken to our leader? No. To spread happiness throughout the universe!
The first person Takopi meets is depressed fourth grader Shizuka. (Or is it…?) Takopi is determined to do whatever it takes to make Shizuka smile again. But his misguided attempts to help her by using his advanced technology to turn back time only result in mayhem and death.
The television adaptation featured strong voice performances from Kurumi Mamiya as the titular extraterrestrial and Reina Ueda as Shizuka Kuze, alongside Konomi Kohara as Marina and Anna Nagase as Azuma. As the compilation film prepares for its late November debut, fans and newcomers alike will soon experience the poignant narrative brought together on the big screen.
