The hit assassin comedy SAKAMOTO DAYS is gearing up for its return, offering a fresh look at Season 2 through a newly released character trailer. Set to premiere worldwide exclusively on Netflix in January 2027, the upcoming sequel builds on the strong viewership performance of its debut season.
Directional Shift at TMS
While studio TMS Entertainment returns to handle the animation alongside series composition writer Taku Kishimoto and character designer Yo Moriyama, the directorial helm is seeing a key structural transition. Daisuke Nakajima steps into the primary director role, while Season 1 director Masaki Watanabe moves to chief director to oversee the broader production pipeline.
The announcement follows an alternate teaser visual released earlier, alongside the previously shared teaser trailer for the upcoming season.
Retirement and Retribution
Adapted from Yuto Suzuki's manga serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump since 2020, the story follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary hitman who left the underworld behind for marriage and a quiet life running a neighborhood convenience store.
Despite his drastically altered appearance and suburban routine, Sakamoto's past refuses to stay buried, forcing him to shield his family from ruthless assassins using whatever household objects lie within reach.
