Celebrating a decade of dark fantasy mastery, the Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World anime is marking its milestone anniversary with its first-ever comprehensive exhibition. Running from September 12 through October 4, 2026, at the Shibuya Beam Gallery in Tokyo, the special retrospective invites visitors to retrace Subaru Natsuki's grueling and emotionally charged journey from the humble beginnings of the first season up to the ongoing narrative developments of the fourth season.
Ahead of the public opening, a media preview and press conference were held featuring the series' lead voice actors: Yusuke Kobayashi, the voice of Subaru Natsuki, and Rie Takahashi, the voice of Emilia. Exploring the venue ahead of time, the pair shared their astonishment at the sheer volume of production materials, character material collections, and staff commentaries on display.
Decade of Production Materials
The multi-zone layout guides attendees through each broadcasting block, offering rare glimpses into character design sheets, original key frames, and intricate background art that helped bring Tappei Nagatsuki's dark fantasy world to life. Kobayashi noted that getting a close look at subtle costume changes and evolving character silhouettes across multiple seasons offered an unprecedented perspective on the animation team's dedication.
Among the standout attractions are large-scale installations inspired by pivotal story arcs. The first-season area features a massive photo spot recreating Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti's Unseen Hand authority, while the second-season zone presents a detailed model of the Great Rabbit horde alongside a memorial theater dedicated to the emotional turning point of Episode 49, "Choose Me." Meanwhile, the third-season section showcases a detailed diorama of the water gate city of Pristella, paired with a massive collection of raw key animation cells detailing the brutal clash between Garfiel and Kurgan.
Perhaps the most intimate attraction for dedicated followers is the audio archive containing Kobayashi and Takahashi's original audition tapes recorded before the anime's 2016 premiere. Reflecting on hearing their raw, unrefined vocal takes from over a decade ago, both actors expressed a mixture of nostalgia and amusement at how their interpretations of Subaru and Emilia have matured alongside the sprawling narrative.
The exhibition remains open at Tokyo's Shibuya Beam Gallery through October 4, 2026, giving enthusiasts ample opportunity to immerse themselves in a decade of trials, resilience, and unforgettable storytelling.
