The Fall 2024 anime adaptation Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 (Tensei shitara Ken Deshita II) has released official plot details and preview cuts for its second episode, titled "Jean Doubi Was Excellent," slated to air on October 14, 2026.
Based on the hit light novel series written by Yuu Tanaka and illustrated by Llooo, published under Micro Magazine's GC Novels imprint, the franchise has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation. Following the success of the inaugural season, animation studio C2C returns to helm the production under the direction of Shinji Ishihira. The core voice cast features Shinichiro Miki as Teacher and Ai Kakuma as Fran, alongside Hiroki Goto as Urushi, Yuuma Uchida as Jean Doubi, Shiori Izawa as Nameless, and Shou Hayami as the Lich.
Into the Floating Labyrinth
The narrative follows Fran, a young Black Cat tribe girl formerly subjected to cruel enslavement, who crosses paths with an intelligent weapon known simply as Teacher. Armed with extraordinary capabilities, the duo journeys across fantasy territories to secure her evolution and strength. Their latest expedition leads them toward the port town of Dars.
En route, Fran and Teacher discover a mysterious floating island suspended in the sky. There, they encounter the necromancer Jean Doubi, who enlists their assistance to conquer the island's perilous dungeon. Episode 2 promises high-stakes action as the party navigates a domain crawling with malevolent undead entities.
As the group progresses deeper into the labyrinth while acquiring new skills, they encounter a terrifying creature known as a "Necrophage"—a specialized undead predator that preys exclusively on other undead. Preview cuts tease an intense confrontation as Fran confronts this lethal ecological anomaly.
Episode 2 of Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 premieres via Tokyo MX, ABC TV, BS Asahi, and AT-X, with streaming on ABEMA.
