Takara Tomy's squishy digital mascot franchise is returning for another television cycle. The official media channels for PuniRunes have unveiled a promotional trailer and visual for the show's fourth season, officially titled PuniRunes Puni 4. The upcoming iteration shifts the core narrative setting to "Puni School" and is slated to premiere on October 4 at 9:15 a.m. across TV Tokyo and its affiliated networks.
Alongside the trailer drop, production staff confirmed that popular female comedy duo Ganbareruya will join the vocal cast to voice new characters Sanrun and Tsukurun. The duo will also act as official cheer captains for the season's broadcast. The franchise, produced by animation studio OLM Digital under chief direction from veteran Kunihiko Yuyama (Pokémon, Fairy Princess Minky Momo), continues to adapt the tactile concept of Takara Tomy's digital pets into short-form comedic adventures.
Expanding the Mascot Universe
Originally launching in October 2022, the anime adaptation follows the daily lives of the titular PuniRunes—mysterious creatures who crave human touch—and Yuka, a primary school student fascinated by soft textures. The project features character designs by veteran animator Sayuri Ichiishi (Tamagotchi!) and series composition by Gigaemon Ichikawa.
With previous seasons airing in late 2024 and mid-2025, the fast-paced production cycle underscores the toyline's ongoing commercial momentum in Japan and overseas, where Spin Master streams English-subtitled episodes via YouTube.
