Bandai Namco Filmworks has officially confirmed that singer-songwriter Yuika will perform the opening theme song for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Jun Wakatsuki's manga Promise Me the Spotlight (Watashi o Center ni Suru to Chikaimasuka?).
Yuika debuted the song, titled "Nanimono demo nakatta Watashi dakara" (Because I Was No One), during her "Sanvitalia" solo concert. The track sets the emotional tone for the idol romance series, which revolves around an earnest dynamic between an underdog idol and her most devoted supporter.
From Underground to Center Stage
The story follows Koichi Okuta, a dedicated fan of Mizuki Natsuno—the least popular idol in the group Melty Strawberry. When circumstance leads to the two living under the same roof, Koichi commits to helping Mizuki rise from relative obscurity to become the group's undisputed center.
Wakatsuki originally launched the manga in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge in 2022 before transitioning the series to the Magazine Pocket platform in 2023. Kodansha released the sixth compiled volume in Japan on July 9.
